What Direct Primary Care Does Not Replace
DPC does not replace insurance for high-cost or complex care, including:
Hospitalizations
Emergency care
Specialty care
Advanced imaging or procedures
Because of this, DPC works best when paired with:
A high-deductible health plan
A self-funded employer plan
Health-sharing arrangements
Catastrophic coverage
Why This Model Works
By removing insurance billing from primary care, Welcome Health focuses on early intervention, strong provider-patient relationships, and easy access to care—often helping reduce unnecessary urgent care visits, ER use, and avoidable downstream costs.
Please note that some of our more experienced clinicians have significant waiting time for new patients. We do this to keep individual practices from getting too big, and to keep the schedule freed up so we can meet the needs of our current patients.
